Some tips for parents
- Come much earlier before your class starts in this way your child will avoid the rush.
- Ensure your child has their finger nails trimmed and clean.
- Take a notebook with you to make notes during a class.
- Listen carefully what teacher says because you might be asked some questions.
- If your child behaves badly, let a teacher restore him to order.
- Do not make any comments during your class.
- Never correct your child during the class. Let teacher teach himself - this way you show you trust your teacher.
- Avoid excessive admiration or disappointment. Children lose concentration when there are too many emotions around.
- Listen to Suzuki's records or some other violin pieces of music at home as often as you can.
- Be consistent with your home practise. Child must know that everyday practise is as important as cleaning teeth.
- Dedicate all your attention to your child practising at home. Do not let anything to disturb during your pratise time e.g.: ringing phone.
- Do your best to practise at home. Parents are obliged to behave camly and with optimism during home practise. Show your child that home practise makes you happy. The best practice is fun. It can be any silly or nonsensical activity which allows to consolidate certain amount of right musical moves. Be creative!
- Do not interrupt your child while it plays. Keep your positive and negative comments to yourself till your child stops playing.
- Share all your comments with your child. Start from the positive ones and then pass on to the negative ones. Remember! There is always something to be praised for, e.g. you kept your legs in right possition.
- Give your child a possibility to play in front of an audience such as family or friends. Do not worry if your child cannot play very well yet. It can just make a bow or hold the instrument.
